Hm... I don't think them adding an 'Animal Signet' due to pet's evolution. That would require 5 new skills per pet, or any way to manage those skills as items of data due to pets leveling.
I currently give one different pet to each of my heores. And a different one one for each of my characters. But would be great to be able to have some more pets and trade them with friends... Let's se how it could be made...
Members will have some options when talking to the Guild Hall pet tamer:

With all these new pets, I would love to choose what to take with me into different areas. Kinda silly for me to have my crocodile in the barren desert, or my snow wolf in the jungle Also, I agree with most of what Mithran said. However, I do not like the idea of anybody choosing the pets from the guild hall. I believe you should only be able to take your own pets out or delete them altogether. Perhaps have it be a minue that would come up when you talk to the Pet Tamer in your hall and you could then choose to add a new pet, "charm" one of your own from a list, or delete a pet. Also to keep server space down, you can only keep one of any specific type of pet (one bear, one crocodile, etc). Last edited by InvictusBlood; Nov 17, 2006 at 11:56 PM // 23:56.. |

I'll never give up my moa bird! Until they have some fashion of pet selection, it's Pimpy McGee all the way...
In my mind, a pet is almost like a beast master's weapon, with its damage type and evolution status synonymous to a weapon's upgrades and inscriptions. It only seems fair to have the option to choose amongst different pets, to me. Question about the Guild Kennel idea though: if you quit or are kicked out of a guild, what happens to all of your pets? I instead personally like the idea of being able to choose your pet on your skill bar in town or the regular tamers simply holding your pet for a fee or something. anyway, /sign |

I brought this topic up today over on the GuildCast forums. The idea was raised that there could be a "Beastmaster" title for capturing the most critters. While having the pets roaming free inside the Guild Hall would be cool, I think I simpler method could be found. How about the Tamers act as the go between point. You go to the Tamer and there is a list of all the types of creatures you've captured. You get one for each type, as you unlock them via capture. If you develop your pet into say a "playful wolf" but wanted something else, then you can swap out the one in the Tamer Zoo for a fresh pet and train it again. Simpler, and adds the opportunity for new titles... there could be a tamer title for each expansion. Oh, and of course they should add a Tamer to the Guild Halls. |

It should be a new NPC for the Guild Hall. the Tamer, or animal Keeper.
It would hold up to a certain amount of pets for you. The problem with letting them run free in the guild hall. Is what is to keep a lvl 10 Guild member from taming your lvl 20 pet. & using it in PVP arenas. Also if you have a massive guild, with many /rangers/ what happens with overcrowding of pets? The NPC would be able to trade the pet back to you, Holding whatever pet you have. The option to enter an animal holding pen instance, & view your animals. & maybe some mini games. Like feeding them, to level them. Digi pets, or whatever. Some rangers get oddly attached to their pets. LOL maybe even give them a Tame factor which gives them bonuses during combat depending on how much you have attended to them in the Pet Pen. |

No, no...
I meant TWO things to do with your pets: 1. Have up to X of them and switch between them. Keeping them. 2. Give to the Guild the ones you don't want instead of selling or deleting them. |

I don't see why multiple comfort animal skills is a bad idea though...err, on second thought, I just imagined a team of eight people with eight lvl 20 pets each, which sounds like havoc. Yeah, the idea of a drop down menu to select your pet or, like I said, the option of having the regular tamer hold your pets (just like how the purchasable guild tamer would hold pets) sounds much better. I just thought of an easier way to have multiple pets. You know how the signet of capture changes to the new skill when you capture it. Why not have the Charm Animal skill change (but you don't lose the Charm Animal skill) into a "skill" icon for that type of critter. So you'd have a wolf icon, a flamingo icon, etc. in you're skill list. If you wanted to start over with say... a new wolf, just Charm Animal another wolf (and if they're really nice they'll pop up a confirmation screen if it is successful) and that replaces your old pet of that type.
When you hover over the particular pet skill in the skill list, the tool tip pop up could show the stats of the pet... including name, type, level, etc... This seems the simplest and most elegant way to me. What do ya'll think? |

I would cap the number of pets you can have, three being my first thought, five would be good too. A pet for each chapter.
Have the pet selection be like the Hero's, have a drop down menu for the pet you want to take out. I like my Phoenix, but I was sad when I got rid of my Spider, I want it back. /signed |

5 pets should be enough:
* Hearty: -15% damage, +60 health * Playful: -5% damage, +30 health * Elder: -0 damage, +0 health * Aggressive: +5% damage, -30 health * Dire: +15% damage, -60 health One of each type. |

In the game you have somewhat of a bond with your one and only animal companion, but when you just walk into a room of 20 companions and think; hmm I think I'm going to take Sparky out today, as I have decided to wear armour which he compliments rather well... Pet's aren't there purely for aesthetics, and you should know whether you want dire, hearty or elder when you train your pet. |

because different pets have different stats and damage types. I think you should be able to change. |
